MAYFLY – Multispecialty Robotic Outpatient Surgery Program for Improved Length of Stay and Recovery

MAYFLY is a surgical research project being run at Queen Alexandra Hospital that seeks to determine the benefits and costs of robot-assisted surgery in an outpatient setting (outpatient meaning when a patient is not expected to stay in hospital for more than 24 hours).

Robot-assisted surgery has been around since the early 2000s and is already being used successfully for these types of operations across the world. In this study we want to provide evidence for the impact that the robotic platform has to outpatient surgery within the NHS.
